Headteacher appointment – message from Chair of Governors

Dear Parents and Carers,

The Governors are delighted to announce the appointment of Mr Calvin Henry as the new Headteacher at St Mary’s CE Primary School, from September 2018.

After a rigorous two day selection process, in which a number of candidates were tested, Mr Henry was the unanimous choice of the Governors.  He will become the permanent Headteacher from September 1st 2018, succeeding Fran Hargrove, who continues as Headteacher until August 31st 2018.   There will be a comprehensive handover period during the second part of the summer term.

Mr Henry will join St Mary’s from Hackney Learning Trust where he is currently a Primary Leadership and Management Adviser. Previously he has worked as a Headteacher and then executive Headteacher at schools in Islington and Camden. Before taking up leadership roles Mr Henry worked extensively as a teacher in a range of inner city London schools.  He is also an Ofsted Lead Inspector.

As Governors, we are very pleased to have found an experienced Headteacher who will build on the immense work of Fran Hargrove.

I hope you will join me in congratulating Mr Henry on his appointment, and in supporting him as he prepares to lead the school into a new and exciting future.

Best wishes
Jess Smart
